Professor Emerita Betty Tsai received a Bucks County Community College Foundation Board of Directors 2016 Community Award on March 17, 2016.
“Betty was a faculty librarian, who became Professor Emerita on her retirement. She held several different library posts during her time at BCCC, including Assistant Director and Systems Librarian. She was responsible for technical processing and was particularly interested in information literacy. She was one of the original designers of the Integration of Knowledge course, Food and Culture (now Food and Society). Betty was extremely active in the American Library Association, and the attached article notes her having been awarded the Ching-Chih Chen Leadership Award by the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association. She has been described by Dean Maureen McCreadie as a “remarkable colleague”. She founded the “Salute to Mothers” Scholarship which ultimately inspired the Foundation office to host an annual scholarship tea in Tyler Hall. Since 2008, the “Salute to Mothers” Scholarship has raised over $95,000 for mothers supporting at least one child while attending BCCC.” – Bucks County Community College Foundation Board of Directors 2016 Community Awards.
