“This was trying but fun: I learned a lot! Hopefully my students will too…” (a DML Institute participant).
Twelve faculty participants enjoyed a four-day immersion with Prezi, Timetoast, SpiderScribe, VoiceThread, and other cool online teaching tools this January. Participants from across the disciplines representing all three physical campuses and virtual courses enjoyed exploring the possibilities of these tools. Through readings, discussions, hands-on group and individual activities, they created digital media strategies that work effectively with the content they teach. On the last day of the institute, each participant shared the masterpiece assignment that they can now use to enhance their teaching. The Digital Media Literacy Institute, facilitated by Jackie Fritz and Margaret Montet, was held in the Newtown Library from January 14 through 17, 2013.
