What is Transliteracy, you ask? Transliteracy is the ability to read, write and interact across a range of platforms, tools, and media. This new institute, to be co-facilitated by Jackie Fritz and Margaret Montet, is taking the place of the Media Literacy Institute that you might be familiar with. We’ll guide you through an intensive four days where you will focus on creating an assignment for a class that you teach using the most appropriate tool for the job. You might use Glogster, or Windows MovieMaker, or VoiceThread, or TimeToast–we’ll help you decide which is best for your discipline. The emphasis here will be on the pedagogy, not the nifty tools, but we’ll bring you up-to-speed on those if you need it. The institute will take place during Spring Break week, March 12-15 in the Library’s Learning Studio.
