When entering the library, please note the exhibit reflecting the life and accomplishments of Pearl S. Buck. Buck was the first American woman to receive both the Pulitzer and the Nobel Prizes for literature, and held that distinction for 55 years. She spent the first 40 years of her life in an unexplored and threatened China. The last 40 years of her life was spent just 20 minutes north of BC3 at Green Hills Farm. Over 1,000 published pieces of literature are attributed to Buck. Miss Buck is also associated with her groundbreaking successes in introducing biracial adoption which still continues today through Pearl S. Buck International. The intact collection and home of Miss Buck is open for visitors Tuesday through Sunday offering guided tours of the house, community events and self guided tours of the outdoor sculpture and water garden. http://www.pearlsbuck.org
